How to delete your Eider account and what happens to your data when you do.

About Eider

Eider is a shared-expense app published by Loftery LLC. This page explains how to delete your Eider account, what we delete, and what we keep. It applies to the Eider apps for iPhone and Android and to the Eider website, which all use the same account.

How to delete your account

You can delete your account yourself, from the app or the website. It takes four steps:

  1. Open Eider and sign in, then open your account menu.
  2. Tap Sign-in & security.
  3. Scroll to Danger zone and tap Delete account.
  4. Type DELETE my account to confirm, then tap Delete.

If you can't open the app

You do not need the app to delete your account. Email support@eider.app from the address you signed up with, ask us to delete your account, and we will do it for you. We only need the email address on the account.

When it happens

Deletion has a seven-day grace period. Your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out on every device, and signing back in within those seven days restores it. After seven days the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What we delete

After the seven-day grace period we remove:

  • Your profile: name, email address, and profile photo.
  • Your sign-in credentials, including any linked Apple or Google account.
  • Your payment handles, such as a saved Venmo username.
  • Your membership of every nest, and any invitations you had sent.
  • A nest you were the only member of, together with the expenses in it.
  • Any data export you had requested, and any receipt image you had not yet attached to an expense. These go immediately, not after seven days.

What we keep, and why

If you shared a nest with other people, the expenses, splits, and settle-ups you recorded stay in that nest so the people still in it keep an accurate record of what was agreed. Those entries no longer carry your name: they show as recorded by a former member. If you owned the nest, ownership passes to its longest-standing member so it is not left without an owner.

We also keep the minimum we are required to keep to meet our legal obligations. Nothing we keep can be used to identify you or to sign back in.
