How to read this.

Every Splitwise line below comes from their own published pages and carries the date we checked it. Products change. If a line can't be verified on the day we publish, we remove it rather than soften it.

A comparison is only necessary because the two free plans aren't described in comparable terms. So we'll be plain about ours: nothing in the Eider column is capped, and none of it sits behind our paid tier.

A few things we'll say plainly.

  • Splitwise does a lot well.

    It has been the default for a decade and the app is good. This page is about one thing: what the free plan lets you do.

  • We're new.

    There's no long track record to point at yet. What we can show you is the product and the plan, both in full.

  • We have a paid plan too.

    Plus adds extras for people who want them. Nothing in the free column moves behind it, which is the whole point of listing it this plainly.

Can I bring my history over?
Not yet. You can start a nest today and add what's still outstanding. Most people only need the open balance.
Is Eider free because it's early?
No. The free plan has no caps by design. Plus is a paid tier that adds extras on top, and it does not unlock anything listed here.
Do I have to pay for everyone?
No. Splitwise prices Pro per person: one plan covers one, Duo covers two, and a whole group gets 30 days once a year, annual only. An annual Eider Plus pass covers everyone in your nest, every period, all year.Checked 2 Aug 2026
Does Eider handle the payment?
No. It records the settlement and opens Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, or Apple Cash.
