Connected banks & cards
Connected banks & cards lists the banks and cards you have connected to Eider, and only you can see it. From there you turn one account off, fix a bank that needs a fresh sign-in, or disconnect a bank.
How do I stop importing one account without disconnecting the bank?
Turn off the switch beside that account. Open Connected banks & cards and tap the bank, and each of its cards and bank accounts is listed under Accounts with a switch of its own.
To open Connected banks & cards, tap your avatar at the top of your home screen, then Connected banks & cards. The gear at the top of Your charges opens it too.
Turning an account off stops new charges from it. Its charges already in Your charges stay there, and you can still add them to a nest. Expenses you have already added from them, or linked them to, stay in their nests as they are.
A pending charge is the exception. When your bank posts it, the pending charge leaves Your charges as it always does, but the posted charge doesn't come in while the account is off.
Turn the switch back on to start importing from the account again. Charges your bank sent for it while it was off are skipped, and turning it back on doesn't bring them in.
The bank's other accounts keep importing. To stop all of them, disconnect the bank instead.
Why does my card show a name like "Chase 9257", and can I rename it?
Your bank sent a name that only says what kind of account it is, such as CREDIT CARD, and no fuller name, so Eider named the card after your bank and its last 4 digits instead. You can't rename a connected card or account in Eider.
Eider keeps the name your bank gives an account when that name says which account it is. When it only says the kind, such as CREDIT CARD or CHECKING, Eider uses the account's full official name instead, if your bank sends one that says more. If not, it uses your bank's name and the account's last 4 digits, like Chase 9257. If either of those is missing, the name your bank sent stays.
If a card still shows a name like CREDIT CARD, Eider renames it this way the next time a charge from it arrives.
To see an account's name, open Connected banks & cards and tap its bank. Each account is listed by its name, followed by its last 4 digits unless the name already ends with them. A charge's details show it too, next to Account. In the Your charges list, each charge shows your bank's name and the card's last 4 digits instead.
The name is yours. Nobody else in your nests sees it.
My bank says I need to sign in again. How do I fix the connection?
Open Connected banks & cards, tap Reconnect beside the bank, and sign in to your bank in Plaid's window. That repairs the connection you already have, rather than starting a new one.
When your bank asks for a fresh sign-in, no new charges arrive from it until you sign in again. Eider shows this in three places:
- On Connected banks & cards, the line under the bank says Sign-in expired and the day it happened, for example Sign-in expired Jul 12, with Reconnect beside it.
- At the top of the same screen, a note says, for example, "Chase needs reconnecting. Your bank asked for a fresh sign-in, so no new charges have arrived since Jul 12. Everything already here is safe."
- In the menu under your avatar, a line near the bottom says, for example, Chase needs reconnecting.
When you tap Reconnect, Plaid's window opens straight to your bank's sign-in, with no bank to pick. Some banks send you to their own sign-in page and then back to Connected banks & cards.
- It worked
- Eider says "Reconnected. New charges will start arriving again." The warning comes off the bank, and Eider checks it for new charges right away, bringing in the ones it missed while the sign-in had expired.
- The sign-in didn't go through
- Eider says "That sign-in didn't go through. Try again." Tap Reconnect and sign in once more.
- You closed Plaid's window before finishing
- Nothing changes, and the bank still says Sign-in expired.
If your bank accepted the sign-in but Eider couldn't save the repair, Eider says "That didn't stick. The bank still needs a sign-in." and the bank says Sign-in expired again. Tap Reconnect to try once more.
If a sign-in stays expired for 30 days, Eider ends the connection. The bank is no longer listed on Connected banks & cards, and its charges and your expenses stay, as they do when you disconnect a bank.
How do I disconnect a bank, and what happens to my charges and expenses?
Open Connected banks & cards and tap the bank. At the bottom, under Careful, tap Disconnect and the bank's name, for example Disconnect Chase. Your expenses, and the charges already in Your charges, all stay. Only new charges stop.
Eider asks first, for example "Disconnect Chase?", and lists what stays and what stops. Tap Disconnect to end the connection, or Keep it to leave it as it is.
When you disconnect a bank:
- No new charges arrive from it. Eider takes you back to Connected banks & cards, and the bank is no longer listed.
- Expenses you added from its charges, and expenses its charges were linked to, stay in their nests, untouched.
- Its charges stay in Your charges, even if it was your only bank, and you can still add them to a nest. Any that were still pending stay pending, so they can't be added.
Disconnecting stops every account at that bank. To stop just one, turn that account off instead.
A bank that needs a fresh sign-in can be disconnected the same way. Tap its name on Connected banks & cards rather than Reconnect.
What do the numbers under each bank mean?
They count the accounts Eider has from that bank and the charges from them in Your charges, for example 2 accounts · 1,840 charges.
The accounts are the cards and bank accounts Eider brought in from that bank, including any you have turned off. The charges are the ones from those accounts that you can see in Your charges now.
While Eider is still bringing in the history of a bank you connected recently, the line says importing instead of the charge count, with the year the history has reached once the first charges are in, for example 1 account · importing 2024. If the bank needs you to sign in again, the line says Sign-in expired and the day it happened.
Tap a bank for more. Under Connection, Connected is the day you connected it, Last import is the last time Eider checked it for charges, and History is how far back your charges from it go.
